Can you recommend any great Christian fiction? I am not interested in romance novels?.
I read all the books by Joyce Meyer, all major and Juanita Bynum and Crefflo book dollars and love women viturous book so awesome. Another book I really liked it Black Beauty. (Not a children's book:)) Thanks!
There is not any. Most Christian books tend to beat you over head on faith and that leaves no room for char, plot or even a half-decent idea that is not based on a biblical story in any manner whatsoever. Have you tried the Koran? It's like the Bible, but no one claims that all the people involved were white.

The Novels $39.95 Nearly a century after his birth in Joplin, Missouri, Langston Hughes is, in a sense, coming home. The University of Missouri Press is proud to announce the publication of The Collected Works of Langston Hughes, a compilation of the novels, short stories, poems, plays, and essays by one of the twentieth century’s most prolific and influential African American authors. The sixteen-volume series will make available Hughes’s most famous works as well as less well known and out-of-print selections, providing readers and libraries with a comprehensive source for the first time.Hughes moved to Harlem in the 1920s and ultimately became the most prominent figure in the literary, artistic, and intellectual phenomenon known as the Harlem Renaissance. Hughes wrote articles for The Crisis and in 1926 published his first book of poetry, The Weary Blues. Over the decades until his death in 1967, he became one of the best-known and most versatile American writers of the twentieth century. His creative range — poetry, novels, short fiction, drama, translations, gospel-song plays, libretti, juvenile fiction, radio and television scripts, history, biography, and autobiography — is unique in American letters. The sixteen volumes of the Collected Works are to be published with the goal that Hughes pursued throughout his lifetime: making his books available to the people. Each volume will include a biographical and literary chronology by Arnold Rampersad, as well as an introduction by a Hughes scholar. The volume introductions will provide contextual and historical information on the particular work.Although best known as a poet, Langston Hughes was also the author of two novels that richly evokethe black experience in America. First published in 1930 and 1958, respectively, Not without Laughter and Tambourines to Glory reflect the early and late vision of one of the twentieth century’s most distinguished men of letters. In his introduction to this combined edition of both novels, Dolan Hubbard addresses Hughes’s growing influence on American letters and reveals how a black aesthetic tradition shaped his art and his imagination.Hughes shows us how the discourse of black America informs and alters our understanding of cultural history and of aesthetic values. In Not without Laughter, he movingly tells the story of a black boy growing into manhood in a small Kansas town during the early twentieth century and his experiences with race, family, school, work, music, and religion. His grandmother, a humble religious woman, struggles to keep her family, three daughters and a son-in-law together, on the meager income she earns by taking in washing.Set in Harlem, the center of Hughes’s spiritual universe, Tambourines to Glory is an urban folk melodrama based on the black fusion of Christian hymns and spirituals with the blues. This comic novel captures the spirit of newly transplanted southern blacks who bend the alien rhythms of the city to the gospel sound. |

Romance $14.99 It’s not a mystery, it’s a story of survival and triumph. That’s what some people say about Romance, a would-be hit play about an actress pursued by a knife-wielding stalker. But isn’t it romantic! Before the show can open, the leading lady is really attacked, outside the theater. And before the detectives of the 87th can solve that crime, the same actress is stabbed again. This time for keeps. A.D.A. Nellie Brand moves in for a murder conviction, but Detective Steve Carella is sure she’s got the wrong guy, and wrestles for the case with Fat Ollie Weeks, Isola’s foulest cop. While Bert Kling interviews witnesses and suspects ranging from the show’s producers to the author – who has written novels about cops and knows how it’s done – to the lead’s lovely understudy, he can’t keep his mind off what’s happening to him. He’s falling in love. With a doctor. Who happens to be a deputy chief surgeon. Who happens to be a black woman. In the city of Isola, nothing is black and white. In the play Romance, no one is guilty or innocent. And in the gritty reality of the 87th Precinct, everyone is in love with something – even if it’s only murder. |

The Divine Romance: Going to God with the Longings Only He Can Fulfill $12.99 “Women don’t talk about these things–but they need to. They need to feel cherished, valued, and loved, and God designed them that way. Our culture provides women with unlimited and false substitutes for meeting these needs, completely apart from God. Whether romance novels, soap operas, daydreams of “Mr. Right,” or an office flirtation gone wrong, women sometimes indulge in thoughts and behaviors that provide temporary satisfaction at best, and result in harmful or addictive consequences at worst. Based firmly in Scripture, The Divine Romance exposes the ways women seek to satisfy the longing for unconditional love and acceptance that only God truly can fill. Author Dee Bright helps women break the negative habits that hold them hostage and frees them to experience God’s best. She shows them how to exchange their counterfeit dreams for the “real thing.” Reflection questions make this ideal for personal or small group study.” |

Miniatures and Morals: The Christian Novels of Jane Austen $16 “Jane Austen’s novels are not only still widely read, but they also continue to influence modern film and literature. In both their moral content and their focused, highly detailed, “miniaturist” execution, they reveal Austen’s mastery of the art of fiction and her concern for Christian virtues exercised within communities. Her sharp wit and sense of irony entertain, edify, and challenge both men and women alike. From theological and literary angles, Leithart unpacks both character and theme while summarizing each of Austen’s major works. For all who desire a richer appreciation of her enduring genius, Leithart offers a hearthside seat.” |

Lost Love in Christian Romance $13.88 This book is about tough decisions, choices, and consequences. In this book, Lost Love in Christian Romance, I have tried to convey that the decisions we make today affects our lives tomorrow. Based on choices we make we sometimes lose things, even relationships, that are precious to us; and in many cases, things lost are not retrievable. However, in this story, some were given a second chance. Some ask the question, Why Christian Romance? Well, God is love, and he created man and woman to love him and to love each other, and I believe there should be more of a dialogue from the Christian community on this subject, and I feel that as a result, the youth of today would be able to obtain a better perspective on how to pursue life. I also believe there would be fewer divorces. Regardless of the fact that we sometimes fail, God is The God of a second chance. This book is full of intrigue, inspiration, hope, and yes, romance. |
