Horror story Happiness: The teddy bear too-Tall
"Your difference is your strength and your strength is your gift to the world."
My daughter, an azalea primary school, is very sweet and a shining example of the values I drill her: the AIR Equation, the formula 3 Framework which states that Happiness = Acceptance + Inspiration + Respect. Born and raised in a neighborhood full of former athletes and disadvantages of type A, I difficult sometimes to what is the right mixture of sweetness to it.
My wife says our daughter has a loving softness to her. "Too much love," many admirers say, those who do not know of Eve as they reluctantly discard its grip of their necks. "His watch. It is too good for foreigners. "She accepts and befriends everyone: Whites, Blacks, unions, the marginalized, the bullies, bullying, big, small, girls, boys, geeks, the humble. It Azalea, like her namesake plant that flowers in dry soil, looking to spread happiness in the most sterile places. This is why it is so horrible that later.
It is Sunday. I read the newspaper in my recliner love when she plays on the living room floor. I relive childhood through my children every day. The warm fuzzies for me as I listen to his speech for her dolls and action them as large as she plays a parent, teacher, or cashier.
As a spy I secretly push the paper, turning his head to my eye The first thing is to ease in the display. Her dolls are seated in rows in a "pretend" classroom with desks and a table invisible wood panel which is our living room wall. Barbie teaches class. Soon, Azalea rolls his Volkswagen bus with toys for the school and asked the doll on the spot sit. It probably did not realize it is to let the cutest in the first place.
My artist side of this Notice Right now, how the characters are cute, giving them a very small nose (or no) as the Bratz doll on the front seat and sneak Hello Kitty through the side window. Her favorite doll, a teddy bear, dominates the entire world – even the bus. I return to the Real Estate section.
Hear grunting like a kid grows up a tight Tinkertoys. I smiled determination grass and relax in a photo travel section.
morphs grunts Azalea growling. Suddenly, I hear it hit the ground with such ferocity that I feel the vibrations in the seat love. I check on it. It is highly unfortunate, body slamming his favorite teddy bear!
I rush toward it. "Why are you fighting?"
"He does not play with me. I want him to travel with us, but he will not obey. It will not all the way inside. "
"It is too tall to fit in."
Without warning, she rushes to the Bears. She grunts and thrusts in classical language seriously out to the coast that you see in the picture scene kids who work hard, but rarely in real life. It is in the thigh high and seems to go further. She pries the bear in it and headed for the kitchen waste can.
I ran to the fight there. "It can help its size. Do not fight for him. He really wants to play with you. "I think at an angle of the equation AIR." Hey, you know how Dad is lost and he uses his GPS in the car? "
She shakes her head and wiped a tear from his face red.
I pointed to the ceiling. "It speaks to a large satellite in the sky that can see where I go and tell me the best way to get where I gotta go. Well, your teddy bear can do the same thing for you and your friends. Put it on the roof where it can be at his best, able to see what others can not and save you all lost. "
Red sewers her face as if his smiling mouth opening, a release valve. She pulls the bear in his bosom, he giving his grip around the neck patented.
I read the magazine section now. Azalea drives her dolls around the house. His teddy bear is sitting as a guru on the roof. She asked how to go somewhere because it has never been this way before, and it charges.

Everybody Loves a Happy Ending $21.99 More than a decade has passed since Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith parted ways with their soulful and ambitious swansong, Seeds of Love. Orzabal released two records under the Tears for Fears moniker in the mid-’90s, but the band’s signature blend of hook-filled anthems and art pop excess seemed destined to reside eternally in the post-new wave graveyard of the ’80s. Then came the film Donnie Darko, a left-field cult hit that featured California singer/songwriter Gary Jules’ chart-topping (in the U.K. anyway) rendition of the band’s 1983 hit, “Mad World.” The renewed interest in the group found the boys ready and willing to set aside their differences and give it another go, and the resulting Everybody Loves a Happy Ending capably exhibits why that interest was there in the first place. Tears for Fears have always dabbled in the Beatlesque, but never as blatantly as on the full-peacock flush of the colorful title cut. Like ELO rearranging Paul and Linda McCartney’s “Uncle Albert-Admiral Halsey,” it’s the first flag in a sea of red signaling a return to form that many deemed unlikely. “Closest Thing to Heaven” builds off of “Sowing the Seeds of Love”‘s blueprints — it even utilizes the mid-track reverse drum fill — without coming off as a carbon copy. This is the closest they have come to crafting a possible hit single in years, and it’s a testament to their “still flexing” pop chops that they can meld a bittersweet piano dirge with a sunny ’70s soft rock chorus without sounding contrived. “Who Killed Tangerine” continues mining the Beatles vein, juxtaposing each spooky verse against a chorus reminiscent of “Hey Jude.” They haven’t abandoned the adult contemporary pop that began to creep in post-Smith — “Size of Sorrow” and “Ladybird” are nice and forgettable — but the dark experimental nature of songs like “Quiet Ones” and “Devil” make up for the occasional blandness. Everybody Loves a Happy Ending will do little to convert those who winced at Orzabal and Smith’s obtuse lyrics and over the top production the first time around, but loyal followers, fans of XTC’s Apple Venus, Pt. 1, and lovers of intricately arranged and artfully executed pop music will find themselves delightfully consumed by another chapter from this enigmatic group. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music GuidePerformers: Laurel Victoria Gray – Crowd Noise; Julian Orzabal – Crowd Noise; Bob Becker – Viola; Denyse Buffman – Viola; Stefan |

Short Stories $17.99 Jon Anderson’s first project following his departure from Yes was to reunite with the equally airy Vangelis for a collaborative effort as Jon and Vangelis. Short Stories actually marks their second collaboration — the first took place on Vangelis’ 1975 album, Heaven and Hell, with the track “So Long Ago, So Clear.” The pair returns to that song’s successful formula of combining Anderson’s otherworldly voice with Vangelis’ pithy melodies in a few spots on their debut together, notably for the popular single “I Hear You Now” (which recalls Vangelis’ “To the Unknown Man”) and the middle section of “Far Away in Bagaad.” Otherwise, Short Stories favors amorphous arrangements that feature wisps of melody and little more (a style that has its precedent on Yes’ Tormato rather than their own solo work to date). The effect can be, frankly, underwhelming — “Curious Electric” and “Each and Everyday,” for example, seem content to settle for the happy accidents of collaboration rather than fusing their individual sounds into a cohesive whole. Despite a handful of nearly memorable moments, including the playful “Thunder” and the charming “Love Is/One More Time,” the pair would have had more success sticking to their established idioms — after all, China and Olias of Sunhillow were good albums — rather than trying to meet in some equidistant, ethereal plane. Given the record’s paper-thin arrangements, an appreciation for the music of Vangelis and Jon Anderson is no guarantee that Short Stories will please. ~ Dave Connolly, All Music GuidePerformers: Jon Anderson – Vocals; Raphael Preston – Guitar (Acoustic); Vangelis – Keyboards, Multi Instruments, Synthesizer |

For Student Series Short Stories: Happy Endings by Margaret Atwood $8.49 Margaret Atwood’s “Happy Endings” first appeared in the 1983 Canadian collection, Murder in the Dark, and it was published in 1994 for American audiences in Good Bones and Simple Murders. Subtitled “Short Fiction and Prose Poems,” Murder in the Dark featured four types of works: autobiographical sketches, travel notes, experimental pieces addressing the nature of writing, and short pieces dealing with typical Atwood themes, notably the relationship between the sexes. “Happy Endings,” which is essentially a self-referential story framework, falls into the third category. In several thumbnail sketches of different marriages, all of which achieve a traditional “happy ending,” Atwood references both the mechanics of writing, most particularly plot, and the effects of gender stereotyping. In earlier works, including the novel Bodily Harm, as well as speeches, Atwood discusses the writer’s relationship to society. She defined the artist, in part, as “the guardian of the moral and ethical sense of the community.” In “Happy Endings,” Atwood fulfills this role with a challenge that she throws out to those writers who rely on the stereotypical characterization of men and women and to the reader who accepts such gender typing. At the same time, she challenges other writers to more closely examine typical literary convention. |

3 Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine $37.99 Arriving just at the end of Hall & Oates’ phenomenal streak of success in the early ’80s, 3 Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine, Daryl Hall’s second solo album, was viewed as the first overture in a solo career but, in retrospect, its kinship with his first solo effort, 1980′s Sacred Songs, is apparent. There is some indication that Hall had to make, or wanted to make, some concessions to bring it onto the charts — how could he not, he was one of the most popular musicians of his era — but that’s not particularly evident on the tremendous lead single, “Dreamtime,” a swirling slice of arty new wave psychedelia that stands in direct contrast to anything Hall & Oates sent into the Top Ten — it might have belonged on Sacred Songs or X-Static, but it could only have been cut in the mid-’80s when Hall had the freedom to make a record like this. And this is a result of an artist who is given the freedom to make close to the record that he wants, with a few commercial concessions, plus a desire to make a modern record. That does mean 3 Hearts is a bit tied to the time, particularly in its production with its clean synths and cavernous drum machines, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing since it’s primarily of interest as a portrait of where Hall was in 1986. He’s not as insistently melodic as he is with Oates, nor is he as experimental as he was on Sacred Songs, and that does mean that 3 Hearts falls in a middle ground that’s a bit neither here nor there. And that means it’s not particularly cohesive, but it does have its moments, the brightest of which is “Dreamtime,” one of his greatest achievements. There are other songs here that aren’t quite as good, but it does take a bit of searching to find them, particularly because some of the cuts are either failed experiments or just fall flat. But those moments that do work illustrate that Hall had ambitions that couldn’t fit Hall & Oates, and needed an outlet like this, even if he couldn’t quite pull it all together all the time. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music GuidePerformers: Patrick Seymour – Emulator, Keyboards; Bob Geldof – Vocals (Background); Joni Mitchell – Vocals (Background); June Montana – Vocals (Background); Tony Beard – Drums, Percussion; Michel Delaporte – Percussion; |
