Romancing The Ebook – Shop in South Africa Romance ebook Ebook Diva launches

This month, New Holland Publishing, in association with Booksite Digital, a division of Booksite Afrika, South Africa's largest book distributor, has launched eBook Diva ( www.ebookdiva.com ). eBook Diva specializes in Romantic Fiction eBooks, which is by far the most popular category of electronic books.

Due to the digital nature electronic books, publishers can now make reading a more interactive experience. And in addition to being a store of electronic books world-class diva eBook will create a community of free writers "that will allow fans of the genre romantic fiction to create and share their own eBooks with a community of readers to be able to comment on their work. Budding authors can even customize their eBooks choosing fonts and book covers, while retaining ownership of the copyright to their work, which enable them to publish their work.

The eBooks are a great choice for the environment, and the ease and convenience they offer make it a popular choice for many people. Today, a growing number number of people accessing information from portable media devices such as eReaders, the iPods, laptops and cell phones – and e-books are the perfect complement to these devices. Since most people wear those with them, they are now able to their entire library available.

eBooks will probably never completely replace printed books but the demand for books exists and is growing rapidly. The International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) has announced that trade in U.S. retail sales eBook August 2009 of 120% from last year combined, compared to sales of books in general, which were up only 3.6% for the year followed by the Association of American Publishers (AAP).

At the international level, including the largest publishers, Random House, Harlequin Mills and Boon, Pan Macmillan, Penguin, Simon & Schuster and HarperCollins are investing heavily in e-book market growing. And in South Africa, the editors begin eBook to put strategies in place to meet the growing demand.

Although e-books can be easily purchased and read on a computer, dedicated devices called eReaders are becoming more popular and affordable. These devices are generally the size of a book thin pocket, can store thousands of books, newspapers, magazines and other electronic documents. At the end of the year last two e-book readers became available in South Africa (Amazon Kindle and eBook Reader Elonex 511EB). And last month, the Foxit Reader eBook eSlick has also been published South Africa.
